David started climbing in North Wales at the age of 15 and fell in love with the mountains. He managed to combine a successful career as a professional soldier and mountaineer until retiring from the army in 2001 when he move to Spain to live. Since 1976 he worked full time training service men and women in mountaineering and skiing in Wales, Scotland, Norway, Canada, East Africa and the Far East.
He has climbed extensively in the Alps, Himalayas, Andes, Central and North America. For 16 years he has spent several weeks of most winters climbing on the Costa Blanca where he has now made his home. David qualified as a MIC in 1979. was awarded the BEM in 1980 for his services to army mountaineering and the MBE in 2000 for organising and leading the army millennium expedition to the Himalayas to climbing 18 mountains succeeding on 14. David's last appointment in the army was Chief Instructor to the Joint Services Mountain Training Centre.
He provides a life time of experience and knowledge to those that climb and walk with him in Spain providing a unique Spanish experience.
David is a full member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors, AMI
