Outdoor Emergency Incident Management – 16hrs
Rock & Sun provide a Green Cross First Aid course, designed for group leaders, outdoor professionals and the outdoor enthusiast who may be away from immediate help for some time.
Outline
This 2 day (minimum 16 hrs) course is designed for group leaders, outdoor professionals and the outdoor enthusiast who may be away from immediate help for some time. Certificates are valid for three years and fulfill the needs of all the outdoor national governing bodies for their instructor awards, such as SPA, ML, MIA, RYA, BELA etc…
No previous first aid experience is required to attend this course.
Course Recognition
This is the only 2-day outdoor first aid course on the National Database of Approved Qualifications (NDAQ). Certification is provided by Immediate Temporary Care (ITC) who validate Green Cross First Aid. ITC is HSE approved and accredited QCA awarding body. Certificates will arrive 3 weeks after completion of the course.
Revalidation
This certificate may be revalidated by attending a subsequent 1-day course in 3 years' time.
Timings
The Outdoor Emergency Incident Management course will run from 09.00 to 18.00 on both days. There will be a 15min break during the morning and afternoon, and we will have a 30min break for lunch. The venue will be open from 8.30am to ensure a prompt start. Certification requires 16hrs contact time. If these hours are not met, Green Cross First Aid and ITC cannot validate your qualification. Therefore, to ensure the smooth running of the course for yourself and the other candidates, please ensure that you arrive early, bring a packed lunch and save any important phone calls until the breaks outlined above. If you feel you may have a problem completing the required timings, please contact us to discus further options.
Identification
ITC, as a QCA awarding body, requires that all candidates provide some identification. This is a standard fraud-prevention measure for adult learning qualifications. Photo ID is ideal; a signature ID (signed credit card) will suffice.
A Practical Course
Green Cross First Aid runs practical and active courses. We would normally expect participants to be capable of kneeling, bending, lying down, performing simulated CPR and to take a full and active part by acting as casualties for each other.
On the second day of the course scenarios will take place outside the classroom. Candidates are therefore requested to be suitably dressed for the outdoor environment (waterproofs, fleeces, boots, etc.) both to keep themselves warm and also to facilitate learning how to manage incidents where casualties are wrapped up in outdoor clothing.
If you have any question or problem with the physical nature of this course, please get in touch before your course start date or discuss any matters with your trainer on the day.
